Catholic Priest dies after spending hours with Girlfriend in Hotel Room

 

A Catholic Priest of St. Peter’s Church in Ruai, Murang’a County, Kenya, died after his alleged girlfriend with whom he had spent the night in a hotel room, rushed him unconscious to the hospital for medical attention.

According to Kenyan local media, Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku, 43, who previously held the position of Parish Parish, checked into the hotel with his suspected lover, a 32-year-old beauty, on the night of Friday (July 7, 2023). However, by 8 a.m. on Saturday, the priest was unresponsive, alarming the lady, who immediately notified the hotel management.



Fr. Kariuki, whose body was merely covered with a hotel cloth and foaming at the mouth and nose, was rushed to the nearest hospital, Kenol Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.


“One Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku a k/m/a aged 43yrs old, a Catholic priest at Archdiocese of Nairobi and a farmer at Mangu area checked in at the said hotel together with his girlfriend who also happens to be her colleague at the workplace in Ruai,” it read in part.


Around 8 a.m. on Saturday, the lady allegedly informed managers in hotels that Kariuki was becoming dizzy and unconscious, prompted a visit to a nearby hospital.



They then rushed him to Kenol hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival while still aboard his motor vehicle Toyota Harrier black in colour,” the police report said.

His body has been transferred to a hospital in Nairobi’s capital for preservation and autopsy.


Catholic priests are to remain celibate – never marry and never have sexual intercourse while serving as priests.

Meanwhile, police have commenced an investigations into the matter.
